Don't think of it as just another piece of equipment. Think of this barbell as the thing that's been missing from your hands.
I absolutely love my bare steel original power bar. Couple points for those reading:
1. I was a little worried that the knurl may be too aggressive, but this couldn't be further from the truth. One reviewer compared it to a pine cone, and another said it tore his hands up. Those guys must be city boy pansies. This knurl is great, and I can't imagine why anyone would want a bar with any less knurl. Even my wife isn't bothered by the knurl. If anything, I think y'all at Capps welding may want to consider another model with even more knurl to compete other companies. That's the only additional barbell purchase I'd probably ever be interested in.
2. I was a little concerned about having a bare steel bar in my garage in the Texas humidity. I bought the brass brush with it and give it a 30 second wipe down at the end of every workout. Rust is no concern at all, and the feeling of bare steel cannot be beaten. If you're worried about the corrosion resistance of bare steel, don't be. I could see getting coated or SS bars if I owned a commercial gym, but for us garage warriors, bare steel is the way to go.
